Cleaning dirty dishes is the number two most hated chore in the household, according to P&G Senior Dish Scientist Morgan Eberhard. That’s why she’s dedicated her career to making the seemingly never ending task, easier.
Eberhard is sharing her dish cleaning routine with us while myth-busting some of the most common dishwashing misconceptions. Her team is also launching a new superior product called Cascade Platinum Plus — a new innovation that is packed with more scrubbing and grease fighting power, to allow your dishes to go straight from the table to the dishwasher, to the cabinet.
What’s the most common misconception when it comes to Cascade and the dishwasher?
The most common misconception is that you must prewash your dishes before you load them into the dishwasher. In fact, 86% of Americans prewash dishes at least once a week. But if you’re using a premium detergent like Cascade Platinum Plus, no prewash is needed! Just scrape, load, and you’re done — all while saving time, water, energy and money in the process.
What else do you wish people knew about Cascade?
Most Americans spend 11 minutes a day washing dishes under a running tap, wasting up to 24 gallons of water. By comparison, ENERGY STAR certified dishwashers use less than four gallons of water per cycle. Switching to running your dishwasher daily with Cascade Platinum Plus, even with a less than a full load, allows you to save up to 140 gallons.
What do you like to do outside of work?
When I’m not cleaning dishes in the lab, I like making messes in my own kitchen — and by that, I mean that I love to cook with my husband. I also enjoy playing with our labradoodle Indy and all things interior design, including refinishing furniture.
