Disaster
Relief.
For generations, we’ve supported the communities where we live and work in times of need which strengthens the trust of our brands and company in communities around the world. From our earliest days, P&G has provided everyday cleaning, health and hygiene essentials to those affected by disasters, offering a sense of comfort and normalcy when it’s needed most.
Our Program
In the aftermath of a disaster, we tap into our global network of partners to deliver essential products and services directly to affected communities. Our program has three main parts:
-
Deliver trusted everyday essentials from our brands, including Always, Bounty, Charmin, Old Spice, and Pampers.
-
Provide meaningful services—such as mobile laundry and shower facilities—through our mobile relief fleet in the U.S. and localized solutions internationally.
-
Support relief agencies around the world through grants that enable them to carry out critical response efforts and help communities recover.

Program History
From early local efforts in our hometown of Cincinnati to today's global initiatives, P&G’s Disaster Relief program has aimed to be a source of support for communities facing unexpected challenges for over a century.
1913: Founding of The Community Chest
Following a devastating flood in Cincinnati, P&G Co-Founder James N. Gamble helps create The Community Chest, the first consolidated community campaign for charities, known today as The United Way. In the years to come, William Cooper Procter — grandson of P&G Co-Founder William Procter and eventual P&G CEO — enthusiastically backs the effort, establishing a legacy of community support that continues today.

This timeline is a glimpse at P&G's enduring commitment to disaster relief. Today, we build on this legacy by working alongside our partners to support more communities and help people thrive.
