At P&G, we strive to make peoples’ lives better in small but meaningful ways, which includes continuously looking for ways to innovate our products and packaging to meet our consumers’ evolving needs. One way we do this is through inclusive design. Accessible products and packaging not only better serve our consumers with disabilities and their households, they also increase our brands’ usability more broadly, which creates a superior experience that all consumers can enjoy.

Inclusive design considers the preferences of all our consumers, who want products that are easy to use and help drive down environmental impact. That’s why brands across P&G are driving innovation to create products and packaging that are both accessible and sustainable.

At the 76th annual PAC Global Awards, P&G was recognized for doing just that, with OLAY and Tide among our brands taking home awards for cutting-edge packaging innovation across the industry.

EASIER TO OPEN AND MORE CONVENIENT FOR ALL OUR CONSUMERS

OLAY Regenerist Face Moisturizer was awarded for its innovative, accessible packaging, earning Best in Class for Universal Design

OLAY Regenerist Face Moisturizer was awarded for its innovative, accessible packaging, earning Best in Class for Universal Design. OLAY Regenerist is the first facial moisturizer to feature a tactile symbol on its cap, addressing a common challenge for consumers who rely on touch rather than visual cues to distinguish between similar beauty products.

The raised circle, molded directly into the lid, makes it easier and more convenient for all our consumers, including those who are blind and low vision, to identify the product through touch. The OLAY team designed the packaging to offer an accessible and universal design while maintaining the look and feel consumers expect from the brand.

By applying inclusive design principles, OLAY was able to deliver even better experiences for our consumers while addressing the specific needs of people with disabilities, ensuring we can all have an enjoyable and effortless skin care routine every day.

HIGH-THROUGHPUT PRODUCTION WHILE REDUCING THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

P&G R&D and LasX Industries won this year’s Best in Class designation Package Innovation Design – Labels category with LAZR Mark/LaserSharp® Marking, a proprietary, high-performance laser marking and package decoration technology. The solution supports high-throughput production while reducing the environmental impact by eliminating the need for traditional labels and adhesives.

LAZRMark/LaserSharp® Marking significantly improves labeling performance by replacing conventional labels (commonly attached to the package with adhesive) with graphics directly on the packaging, delivering high-quality results at significant cost savings and increased agile production. This approach allows packaging to be made from just one material, making recycling easier and eliminating potential waste stream contaminants (label paper, inks and adhesives) from entering the recycling stream.
