P&G's Women in Water: Building a Water Positive Future, Together

Water is essential to everything we do at P&G — from the everyday products we create to the communities we serve around the world. As we work toward our strategy to help build a Water Positive Future, it’s the many unique voices across our inclusive teams that help turn vision into action. Among them are several trailblazing women across our company, whose insights, talents and passion are helping shape innovative solutions for a more sustainable future. Their stories are a powerful reminder that when we bring together a variety of different perspectives and experiences, we can unlock new possibilities and create a bigger impact.

Driving Sustainable Brand Solutions Through Consumer Insights

For Ashley Fill, Director, Canada and Global Home Care Sustainability, a passion for the environment began early. Growing up in Canada, she saw firsthand how environmental challenges impact local ecosystems. That early connection to nature — combined with a deep understanding of consumer needs and the power of multiple perspectives — inspires her work today.

Ashley drives water conservation strategies for P&G's Home Care brands, such as Cascade and Dawn. "Water conservation is a critical part of our sustainability strategy," she explains, noting that water consumption during product use at home makes up a significant part of Home Care’s environmental footprint.

For Ashley, understanding how people use products in their everyday lives is key to driving meaningful change. "To design products that reduce water consumption, we must understand how all our consumers are utilizing them,” she says.

That insight has led to innovations like Cascade Platinum Plus, which helps address a common concern — the fear that the dishwasher alone won’t get dishes clean — and empowers consumers to save water and time. “An inclusive team is critical to advance our water reduction strategies," Ashley notes. “P&G’s commitment to inclusion means we’re designing products that reflect the real, unique needs of people in their homes. The more perspectives we bring in, the better our solutions will be."

The Power of Clean Water – and Inclusive Partnerships

Claude Zukowski, Senior Director, Community Impact, began her P&G career as a microbiologist in Research & Development. Today, she draws on that scientific background to lead our Children's Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) Program, which works with dozens of nonprofit partners to bring clean water to communities in need around the world.

Globally, nearly two billion people lack access to clean drinking water. But Claude's work goes beyond meeting a basic need; it's about creating lasting change that addresses interconnected issues like gender equality, education and their impacts on global communities.

Tackling a challenge that affects nearly a quarter of the world's population requires deep, ongoing collaboration. Claude manages not only the CSDW Program, but also critical relationships with global emergency relief partners. Together, we’ve delivered more than 24 billion liters of clean water to people in over 100 countries.

Claude is particularly proud of the program's impact on women and girls, who are often responsible for collecting water in their communities. “Lack of access to clean water disproportionately impacts their education, health and economic opportunities,” she explains. “That's why we work with organizations to ensure women and girls are not only beneficiaries, but also active partners and leaders in bringing clean water to their communities. By bringing in their insights and perspectives, we can develop more creative solutions.”

Driving Water Restoration Through Inclusive Teams and Community Engagement

As Government Relations Manager and leader of the Water Positive Future project for P&G Mexico, Verónica Gabriela Castillejos Vélez is devoted to finding impactful solutions to address water challenges, such as water scarcity. She leads initiatives to restore water in and around metropolitan Mexico City — work that contributes to not only P&G’s sustainability goals, but also the well-being of the communities we serve.

"What drew me to this work is my vision to deliver a better world for future generations, a deep commitment to environmental sustainability and the belief that businesses have a responsibility to contribute positively to society," Verónica shares, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and stakeholder engagement in developing effective water strategies.

Verónica believes inclusive teams are critical to advancing P&G’s water strategy, as they “bring together a wide range of experiences and ideas, which fosters a richer environment for brainstorming and problem-solving." The uniqueness of Verónica’s core team also strengthens their connection to local communities, ensuring water solutions are tailored to Mexico’s regional and cultural needs.

Working at a company that values inclusion for all empowers Verónica to perform at her best. "The inclusive environment at P&G fosters collaboration and innovation,” she notes, “allowing all voices to be heard and valued, which enhances our collective efforts in addressing critical water challenges."

Engineering a More Water-Efficient Future with Inclusive Innovation

Andrea Campos, Global Water and Effluent Engineer, Fabric & Home Care, embodies P&G's work to embed sustainability in how we do business. She supports P&G Fabric Care and Home Care manufacturing facilities in achieving their water goals — improving operational efficiency, minimizing water loss and helping advance our ambition to build a Water Positive Future.

When Andrea joined P&G in 2017, her first major project was developing equipment capable of recovering 92% of wastewater at high quality to enable circular water use at our plants. The project marked a pivotal moment in Andrea's career, resulting in a breakthrough technology that delivered significant savings and paved the way for future innovations. Since then, she’s remained deeply involved in advancing water efficiency across the company.

Andrea credits P&G's inclusive culture as a key enabler of her work. "As a woman in a very technical role, without P&G’s values, it would be way harder for people to adopt new ideas and make the changes we need on water sustainability efforts,” she says.

In addition to her technical focus, Andrea is passionate about education and inspiring others. "Water systems aren’t easy to understand — the equipment is complex and the problems are hard to fix,” she explains, “but every time I can inspire someone, […] that’s when I’m proud of my work.” Her hope? That more people recognize water as a valuable, shared and finite resource — and take steps to protect it.

Ashley, Claude, Verónica and Andrea are just a few of the many talented employees helping drive P&G’s water strategy forward. Their expertise, dedication and commitment to inclusion are essential to building a Water Positive Future — one where water can sustain nature and the people we serve for generations to come.
