Unlocking Solutions to Water Challenges in New “Our Blue World, A Water Odyssey” Documentary
Water scarcity affects every continent on our planet. Nearly one third of people live in water-stressed regions and two thirds of the global population are projected to be by 2025.
Water is also essential to our brands and consumers. All our products need water to be made, and 70% of our products need water to be used.
So how do we reconcile these realities? By working to help build a water positive future where water can sustain people and nature, now and for generations to come.

The Power of Partnerships
Through longstanding partnerships, our experience in innovation and consumer understanding unlocks new solutions to water challenges in water-stressed areas where we operate. Our partnership with Brave Blue World Foundation, on their documentary Our Blue World — A Water Odyssey, aims to raise awareness about the global water crisis. Learn more about P&G’s partnership with Our Blue World Foundation.
P&G is a founding member of the 50 Liter Home Coalition, which is also featured in the film. We are bringing our superior innovation, water expertise and water-efficient products to the 50L Home Coalition’s mission to help create a resilient, low-carbon water future, where 50 liters of daily water use per person feels like 500. The film explains how we can save water and energy at home, and features P&G scientists and a family of seven that uses Cascade, Dawn Powerwash, and Tide to make their busy lives a little bit easier while saving resources:
- Cascade Platinum Plus: Delivers a better clean and enables more people to trust their dishwashers — so they can skip the pre-rinse and save time and water. By skipping the sink and choosing the dishwasher, households can save up to 100 gallons of water per week.
- Dawn Powerwash Dish Spray: Spray-activated suds eliminate the need for water when hand washing dishes until the final rinse — cutting the amount of water used compared to traditional dish soaps by up to 50%, all while delivering a faster clean.
- Tide: Specially formulated for a better clean in cold water, Tide helps reduce energy use by 90% on average in every load versus washing on hot. Clothes also last longer, slowing color fading and fabric shrinking. Switching from hot to cold can save up to $150 per year when using a non-HE machine for a typical 8 loads per week, based on average electricity rates in the U.S.
