Using Science For Good— An End To Animal Testing Globally

P&G Scientists and Leaders Step Forward as a Force For Good at World Conference on Non-Animal Alternatives

At P&G our journey to create a world without animal testing began more than 40 years ago. Because of our efforts, many advancements have been achieved and adopted across industries. Our ultimate goal—a world without animal testing—is getting closer thanks to the commitment of our scientists and brands.

That’s why we’re a proud Platinum Sponsor of the 11th World Congress on Non-Animal Alternatives — the largest and most important scientific congress on non-animal methods that brings together the world’s leading scientific experts from academia, NGOs, industry and authorities to exchange and discuss latest advancements in non-animal testing methods.

For the past four decades, we have invested more than $460 million to reduce, refine and ultimately replace animal testing—at P&G, we call this the 3R Principle. As a result of these investments, today more than 50 non-animal safety testing methods are used globally with more than half of them developed or co-invented by P&G scientists.

We have been collaborators and pioneers in this critically important area since the beginning, collaborating with a number of different stakeholders to develop the science of non-animal methods and aggressively advocating for their regulatory acceptance globally.

This has enabled some of our leading brands to be certified as “Cruelty-Free” by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), including Herbal Essences, Aussie and Secret, to name just a few. P&G is also a proud partner of the Humane Society International’s #BeCrueltyFree Campaign, calling for an end to all animal testing of cosmetic products globally. Learn how P&G stepped up to support the #SaveRalph campaign.

Our partnership with scientists around the world and contribution to the global community’s research on non-animal alternatives is a critical part of achieving the vision of a world without animal testing. In 1993, P&G was founding sponsor of the first World Congress on Alternatives held in Baltimore, Maryland, and since then P&G has sponsored and contributed to this annual gathering of experts and innovators. This year, more than 15 of our leading experts will attend and contribute to the 11th World Congress on Non-Animal Alternatives

With understanding the magnitude of the responsibility we hold, we are proud to be playing an important role in driving forward scientific solutions, contributing to our ultimate objective: using Science For Good to end animal testing globally.
