A night of hope, love and support

As people everywhere battle COVID-19, P&G is stepping up to support communities around the world who have always supported us. You can read about our broad COVID-19 relief efforts here.

Beyond producing critical cleaning, health and hygiene products that people depend on every day, we’re providing cash, product donations and other resources to more than 200 charities, relief organizations and government agencies around the world.

We’re also shifting systems in our manufacturing plants to produce masks, disinfectants and hand sanitizers needed by hospitals, senior care homes and first responders.

While demand for our support is broad, some places need more help. In the US, this need is most notable in the Black community.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that while African Americans make up around 13% of the US population, they represent 30% of the nation’s infections. And that’s only where reliable data exists. In some markets, the infection and death rates range between 3-5x that of the general population.

There are many compounding reasons: African Americans and Latinx people are over-represented in jobs where they are more exposed to the general public and tend to live in large, more urban centers. More strikingly however, are the systemic and structural inequalities in areas such health care, employment and education that are at the core of this issue.

Consistent with our history of addressing bias and inequality and supporting communities in times of need, we’re stepping up to help: short-term where it is needed most today – and long-term, where we can contribute to a better tomorrow.

We’re a leading sponsor of Saving Our Selves, a fundraising relief effort led by BET and United Way that will air on April 22 to accelerate support for communities impacted by COVID-19.

P&G is also providing $1 million in short-term relief funding to benefit some of the hardest hit Black communities in America. And we’re providing more than $1 million worth of P&G products and more than 2 million masks and other supplies (including Safeguard hand sanitizer) to help stem the spread of COVID-19 in these communities.

These cities include Chicago, Detroit, Flint, New Orleans and New York, and are in addition to support we’ve provided in locations where P&G has operations such as Albany (GA), Boston and St. Louis that have also been disproportionately affected.

Many P&G brands are also stepping up to help with cash, products and services including Bevel, Bounty, Charmin, Dawn, Pampers, My Black is Beautiful, Old Spice, Safeguard and Tide.

Our commitment goes beyond a single night or a single fundraising effort.

We are taking a leadership role and partnering with a variety of organizations to help address long-range efforts that tackle the underlying racial inequalities – continuing our work to be a force for good and a force for growth.
