ESTAMOS UNIDOS: P&G CELEBRATES HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

This week kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15), a celebration of the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. It’s a time in which we elevate influential voices and share the stories that are woven into the fabric of our country.

P&G’s commitment to the Hispanic community spans for more than half a century. As the nation’s largest minority group, the U.S. Hispanic population is 60.6 million people (18.5%) and reflects a vast cultural diversity encompassing citizens with roots from 21 countries, including Brazil.

Today, P&G is proud to announce it is a signatory of The Hispanic Promise, a first-of-its-kind national pledge to hire, support, develop and celebrate Hispanics in the workplace. This pledge is part of our alliance with Hispanic Star and our most recent work, Estamos Unidos, that helps illustrate the vital roles that Hispanics play for our Country. We’ve also partnered with the organization to drive impact at a grassroots level through the Hispanic Star local hubs that have enabled us to work together to distribute over 1 million products in six major cities that reached nearly 25,000 Hispanic families. During Hispanic Heritage Month we will be providing additional aid to Hispanic communities around the country including hubs in Miami, Houston, Austin, Dallas, New Jersey, Los Angeles and McAllen (South Texas).

Equality and Inclusion is embedded into our company’s DNA. It is something our company and our brands embrace and champion. In the U.S. our employee resource group of more than 1,500 employees, P&G Hispanic Network, has worked diligently in curating a robust plan and events calendar for Hispanic Heritage Month to unite Hispanic employees, the company at large and the general public. The network’s mission is to promote company diversity, empowering and developing leaders, and fostering relationships through community.
